The journey from Rockville Centre to the city via Jamaica Plain Road took 1-1.5 hours (depending on traffic), a road that takes between 1: 1 and 5-2 hours depending on traffic conditions. Now it's possible to reach New York City in less than an hour and a half, much faster than ever on Jamaicaplain Road.

To get to the train station by car, take the Southern State Parkway to Exit 19 (Peninsula Boulevard South). Heading east on the Belt Pkwy, turn left onto Rockville Centre Parkway onto Jamaica Plain Road. The LIRR Babylon line runs from Babylon Station to Babylon Station, and the line goes west to New York City. Head south on Jamaicaplain Road for a few kilometers, then take an exit east at Port Authority Bus Terminal on Port Chester Road, then a turn south to Belt Parkway.

Part of the Rockville Centre is located in the Oceanside School District and consists of two middle schools, two high schools and one high school.

The school is widely considered one of the best in the state with consistently well-rated academic programs. It has a graduation rate of over 80% and an average attendance of over 1,000 students.

Built in 15th century Norman Gothic style, it is lined with streets mostly south of Merricks Road and a few blocks north of it.
